A FORMER police officer from Barnsley who provided an inaccurate account about their ex-partner - which resulted in a criminal investigation and subsequent arrest in relation to stalking and harassment - would have been sacked had she not already resigned.
The officer - called PC A in a report - was the subject of a police misconduct panel earlier this month.
It is alleged that on February 9, 2024, they provided an inaccurate or misleading account in relation to their ex-partner.
Their ex-partner was arrested the following day but, on May 4, the criminal case against ‘Mr X’ was finalised as ‘no further action’.
A report states: “In your signed witness statement dated February 9, 2024, you alleged that, ‘in October 2020 Mr X started becoming inappropriate both in person and during contact over text, something which I felt crossed our parenting boundaries’.
“He would send me messages of a sexual nature and ask for naked images which made me feel uncomfortable and I ignored them.
“In fact, you had engaged in two-way WhatsApp conversations containing references of a sexual nature/physical touching with Mr X over that period, including but not limited to you sending him a detailed two-way sexual conversation on November 13, 2020 in which, amongst other things, you described how you would give him oral sex and messages on November 11, 2020 confirming the massage Mr X gave you earlier was good and on April 6, 2022 referring to you massaging Mr X.
“In your signed witness statement dated February 9, 2024, you alleged that, ‘I asked Mr X to delete any explicit images of me and I agreed to do the same so the fact that he still had these was worrying to me’ and that he, ‘unexpectedly sent me some images of us together when we were in a relationship and then several intimate images of me. I felt concerned and looking back I allowed a lot more to happen than should have’.
“In fact, over this period, you had engaged in two-way WhatsApp conversations exchanging images and referring to photographs, including but not limited to a discussion on October 28, 2020 in which Mr X said he had no photographs of your bottom and you replied that, ‘I sent loads of my bum... so your loss xx’ and on December 2 2020, when Mr X sent a photo of you together, you replied to say you loved it, adding references to your own body.”
The panel found that had PC A not already left the force, she would have been sacked.
The report added: “Police officers are expected to act with honesty and integrity and provide accurate information.
“The panel is satisfied that the statement was deliberately incomplete, false and misleading.
“It concluded that the only outcome commensurate with the former officer’s misconduct is that she would have been dismissed if still serving.
“The information in this notice concerning the former officer should be included on the police barred list.”
