A MONK Bretton paedophile has been jailed for over five years after admitting to 14 charges of child sex offences.
Luke Taylor, 43, of Lamb Lane, was arrested on March 5 2023 after South Yorkshire Police received information relating to indecent images.
A warrant was executed by officers at his address and several of his devices were seized.
He was bailed pending examination of his devices and was further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in September 2024 and November 2024.
Thousands of indecent images of children were found on Taylor’s devices, including 698 category A images, which are the most extreme category in addition to 212 category B images and 1,817 category C images.
Officers also found that he had engaged in sexual communication with children aged between nine and 11 years old using various online social media messaging accounts.
In the course of his offending, Taylor asked the young children to send him indecent images of themselves, and in some cases threatened to share these images more widely if they did not send him more.
Several of the children Taylor targeted bravely reported these conversations to family members who then made formal reports to the police.
This enabled officers to secure further vital evidence.
Over the course of four police interviews, Taylor either denied the offences or provided no comment when questioned.
At Sheffield Crown Court on Mach 23, he pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child, one count of attempting to engage with sexual communication with a child, one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, four counts of causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act, three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and two counts of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
He was jailed at the same court on Friday for five years and four months.
He will also be on the sex offenders’ register for life and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Constable Jess Clark, the officer in charge of the case, said: “Taylor’s offending was absolutely abhorrent, he used a social media platform to coerce and threaten young children into sending him indecent images, causing them pain for his own gratification.
“The examination of his devices uncovered offending spanning from September 2022 to September 2024, and thousands of indecent images of children.
“The volume of his offending is shocking, and I am glad that he has been caught and has been jailed for his disturbing crimes.
“I would also like to thank the victims and their families’ for their incredible bravery in coming forward and providing evidence which helped to secure a guilty plea.
“I also hope today’s sentence shows others who may have been victims of online sexual offences that we take these reports incredibly seriously.
“If you have been a victim of online sexual offences or believe that a young family member may have been, please get in touch.
“We will listen to you and there is support available to you throughout the process.”
