CHILDREN at a local primary school have helped raise funds for a new sensory room.
Youngsters at Birdwell Primary School have been raising money recently - along with staff - for a new sensory room.
Work is now progressing well and, with the help of Aurora by Osborne Technologies, it is expected to be finished soon.
Headteacher Richard Swallow told the Chronicle: “We raised enough to have the intended room made ready and redecorated and started saving towards the actual install.
“All fundraising has come directly from out school community through bake sales and school events.
“Aurora by Osborne Technologies provided the expertise, guidance and industry contacts we simply didn’t have, helping us source the right equipment and installers and turn our plans into reality.
“Companies like this, who share their time and expertise to primary schools to help them achieve something that would otherwise be out of reach for us, have a huge impact on a small school like us.”
Craig Kilner, Aurora product manager, added: “When we heard what Birdwell Primary School was trying to achieve, we wanted to help them make the most of the funds they had worked so hard to raise.
“The school community showed real commitment to creating something special for their pupils, and we were pleased to help bring the project together.
“Working closely with the team, we designed a sensory room tailored to the needs of the children who will use it every day.
“The finished space includes ambient colour-changing lighting, a sensory air tube, audio system, and padded seating, all carefully selected to create a welcoming environment where pupils can feel safe, regulate their emotions and engage more confidently with activities.”
