A PARTIALLY blind man has taken on a charity run to raise money for Cancer Research.
On Wednesday morning, Ian Graham ran two-and-a-half kilometres alongside his carers and community development officer Craig Aubrey.
The 68-year-old is well known in the Worsbrough Common community for his consistent volunteer work.
He often visits the community centre and is heavily involved in the litter-picking initiative in the area.
Craig said: “He has been coming in for two, maybe three years now.
“I don’t know why but he has formed a special attachment with me and he comes in every morning for a chat.”
Ian is blind in his right eye and partially sighted in his left, but despite his own struggles is dedicated to giving back to others.
Last year, he raised over £300 for a young mum suffering with cancer - and his choice this time round closely follows as he raises money for Cancer Research UK.
For Ian, fundraising and community involvement such as this have been essential for his confidence.
Craig added: “I have spoken with his carers and they have said that since he lost his sight, connection with the community has built his world back up.
“So this is such a wonderful thing to be doing for Cancer Research it is also really amazing for himself.”
