The Championship side, managed by Tony Mowbray, took the lead just past the midpoint of the first half when Matty Litherland headed home from a Dion De Neve knockdown.
Rovers doubled their lead nine minutes later when Andri Gudjohnsen calmly slotted home from inside the area.
Cleary hit the bar from his own half in the second half before Ryoya Morishita made it 3-0.
The Reds are set to face Scarborough Athletic away in their next friendly on Saturday.
