A PROLIFIC burglar from Hoyland has been jailed for six months.

Ashley Walmsley, 31, of Kirk View, appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on July 9 where he pled guilty to one count of burglary.

It comes after he broke into a premise in Hoyland and stole around £1,200 worth of items.

After the burglary was reported, officers attended the scene and recovered CCTV footage.

Upon review, officers quickly identified Walmsley as being the suspect.

Just 24 hours after Walmsley was identified, he was arrested and charged with the offences.

A spokesperson for Barnsley South’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Being a victim of burglary can have lasting effects on victims - having someone break into your home is evasive.

“We are working hard to put burglars behind bars.”
