Marcus Tudgay is hoping to add to Barnsley's relegation fears on Saturday as he aims to help Nottingham Forest to the play-offs.

The last time Barnsley fans saw Tudgay, he was leaving the field with a broken collarbone in Keith Hill's final game but he could return to haunt them tomorrow as he is back in the first team picture at promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest.

Tudgay – who had his right clavicle pinned after the injury against Blackburn at Oakwell on December 20 – was out for more than three months before returning to the Forest bench for the last two games.

He came on in the 3-0 loss at Cardiff on Saturday but was an unused substitute for the 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

Tudgay told the Chronicle: "The results haven't gone our way in the last few weeks but we have still got a great chance of making the play-offs. We need three points on Saturday and, as sad it would be for Barnsley to lose, I obviously hope we beat them.

"I expect it to be a passing game of football and a good game to watch. "Billy Davies was the manager who brought me to Forest and, now that he is back and I am fit, I have been back in the first team squad. It would be nice to get back on the scoresheet and that could be against Barnsley."

Tudgay came to Oakwell in November after recovering from a hernia operation and scored three goals in nine games, including a last-minute winner at Milwall.

The 30-year-old, who heard the news of Hill's dismissal in hospital, said: "Keith had told the players that would happen if he lost another game so I wasn't that surprised. I have nothing but good things to say about Keith Hill. He is a fair man and a good manager. I got on well with Flicker and I am not surprised at how well he has done with Barnsley. He has done a tremendous job."

Tudgay, who scored three goals in nine games while on loan at Barnsley, said: "It's really tight at the bottom but I know what Barnsley are capable of and they have got enough to stay up."
