A former student of Priory High School in Lundwood has set his sights on a place at Cambridge University.
Callum Burrows, 17, from Lundwood, attended a five-day residential programme at Peterhouse, the oldest of the Cambridge colleges.
Then he took a three hour exam designed to test candidates at undergraduate maths level.
Currently studying A level physics, mathematics and further mathematics at Barnsley College, he will receive his results in August.

If successful, he will start his mathematics degree in October. Following that he hopes to do a PhD to research number theory.

Callum said: "I am really pleased - it has always been my ambition to go to Cambridge."
