Barnsley's very own music festival is now just one week away and the anticipation is building as the festival's debut fast approaches.
This week, LIVE in Barnsley's spotlight falls on solo singer and pianist See Emily Play, otherwise known as Emily Ireland.
Starting music at the age of 13, Sheffield-born Emily has been compared to the likes of Nina Simone and Pink Floyd to Lady Gaga and Ben Folds.
Under the moniker See Emily Play, she has received several plaudits from both local and international press after the release of her EP 'Four Feet From The Door' and has supported The Beautiful South and ex-Inspiral Carpets member Tom Hingley, along with her backing band.
She incorporates poetry, anger, passion and warmth into her vocal styling.
Emily and her band were awarded the best band accolade at the Sheffield Exposed Music Awards back in April.
She has experience on the festival scene already after playing Sheffield's Tramlines festival last year - her third appearance at the festival.
The festival's organiser, Dave Pearsall, said: "Emily has been compared to Kate Bush, Carole King, Suzanne Vega and Tori Amos. Come and see her live and make up your own mind. We think you will agree that she is an exceptional talent."
LIVE in Barnsley takes place on June 22 across venues in the town centre and ands will be taking to stages in 11 different bars and pubs from midday to 9pm.
"You can really feel the build up of expectation now for next weekend, and it looks like we are in for some very long days from now on making final preparations," added Dave.
