Barnsley drew 1-1 with Club Brugge in their first pre-season friendly of 2013 on Friday night in front of an ethusiastic crowd of around 3,000 at Oakwell.

Chris Dagnall scored a fine goal into the top left corner from the right corner of the box after ten minutes but the 13-time Belgian league champions levelled within a minute through Victor Vazquez's deflected effort.

Brugge were an impressive outfit and the better team in the first half but the Reds were on top after the breaking especially after manager David Flitcroft changed his entire outfield line-up on 63 minutes with players who started in a behind-closed-doors game against Dinamo Bucharesti the previous day coming on.

Youngsters such as Paul Digby, Sam Patterson, Jake Scott and Jordan Clark all impressed with the latter rattling the bar late on.

Flitcroft said: "It was the first proper run-out for the lads that started and the lads that came on gave us a real impetus. I enjoyed the match and it was very useful for us."
