A teenager who 'cannot cope with pressure' has been given until September 13 to show he is willing to do unpaid work.
The 17-year-old from Kexborough was warned at Barnsley Youth Court: "The ball is firmly in your court."
Stephanie Greening, prosecuting for the youth offending team, said the boy from Kexborough had been given 140 hours of unpaid work for breaching an antisocial behaviour order.
She said he had done about 23 hours since late May when he was sentenced. She said the boy had done 'pretty well' on other parts of the youth rehabilitation order.
Alyson Goldsmith, defending, said she would normally welcome the teenager being given a chance.
But she added: "His problems include not coping well under pressure. He will not carry out the unpaid work."
District Judge John Foster said: "You are a young man with problems and a bad criminal record. I expect you to do the unpaid work. The ball is firmly in your court.
"My patience can run out, though. It is up to you whether it runs out before September 13."
The teenager, who admitted failing to comply with a youth rehabilitation order, was granted unconditional bail.
