It took more than six months to build Barnsley town hall back in the 1930s.
However the ducks and the visitors to Pot House Hamlets in Silkstone are marking the grand opening of another town hall - and this one only took 100 hours to complete.
Skilled craftsman Tom Horsfield decided to create the scaled down version of Barnsley town hall as a duck house, to mark the official opening ceremony today of the new attractions at the town hall.
Tom, 28, says the ducks that live on the stream that runs through Pot House Hamlet are already well impressed by his town hall tribute.
He admits he used a pallet as the foundation and plywood on his town hall and unlike the larger version in Barnsley, his does not have a facade sculpted in Portland stone.
It also cost less than the main town hall, even allowing for inflation, as the real one in the town centre cost £188,037 back in 1933.
"I just thought it would be a nice tribute, it is rather bigger than I originally planned, but I'm rather pleased with it and the ducks really love it," said Tom.
• The foundation stone of Barnsley town hall was laid on April 21,1932 and it was opened by His Royal Highness Edward, Prince of Wales on December 14, 1933.
Today Edward, Earl of Wessex, is performing an official opening ceremony at Barnsley town hall once again to mark the completion of the Experience Barnsley museum and the Barnsley Pals Centenary Square.
