Dearne indie rockers The Starkins have signed a deal to release their first single early next year.

It's an early Christmas present for the fresh-faced band and the single 'Roundabout' will be released through Club Fandango in February.

The record label is linked with Fierce Panda, who have worked with Coldplay and Keane in the past. The Starkins sound is more comparable to The Maccabees, who have also worked with that label.

The band has finished the recording of the new song and is now going to work on a video. It's an element the affable youngsters enjoy.

Vocalist Andy Daniels explained: "Videos are nice and fun to make. We're doing the new one at the fairground but it will also have footage of us recording the song too.

"The song's only two-months-old and it's about arguing and not going anywhere with it."

The proceeds of the song will be split between the band and the company and the song will be available on itunes.

An EP is also due to be released after the single as a follow-up. The band plays at the Butcher's Arms in Thurnscoe tomorrow night. Entrance is free.
