A PLAN to determine land development in Barnsley over the next 16 years is unlikely to be approved by the government.
The council has spent two years working on the Local Development Plan, but officers have admitted it is not consistent with regional and national planning documents.
Before the LDF is rubber stamped it needs to pass nine tests of ‘soundness’ and a report put to the decision-making cabinet this week states: “The self appraisal carried out by council officers, with the support of an independent specialist consultant, has found that there is a high risk of not meeting two of the tests.”
Concerns have been raised about the lack of a robust strategy for waste, safeguarded land and greenspaces.
