AN ELDERLY woman who has suffered from Crohn's disease for more than 50 years has nominated a team of nurses who give up their free time to help people for a Proud of Barnsley award.
Joan Roebuck, 73, of Lansdowne Crescent, Darton, said the colorectal stoma care team at Barnsley Hospital wes 'marvellous' and staff gave up their free time to a twice-monthly group called Bottoms Up.
Joan has attended the group for five years and said the members enjoyed tea and coffee and visits from various different people and companies.
"It's something that people don't like to talk about. But Barnsley Hospital has been absolutely fabulous with me and my family.
"I've had seven operations and it's been touch and go at times, but I've been one of the lucky ones."
The team consists of clinical nurses Jane Parker, Katie Avill-Griffiths, Shara Mortimer and Sandra Cheetham.
