TWO secondary schools have been sent to the top of the class in the latest figures to be released by the government.

Willowgarth High, Grimethorpe has been graded 24th nationally for ‘value added measure’ which looks at the standards of pupils when they leave school compared with when they started.

Headteacher Tony Loveday said: "Value added shows the health of the school and where the kids start and finish. To have that figure is tremendous and down to the hard work of the kids and the staff.”

Royston High is listed as one of the top schools across the country for a sustained improvement in numbers of kids gaining five or more A*to C GCSEs including Maths and English.
