A SUPERMARKET was gutted when a fire ripped through it.

The blaze at the New Lodge Netto started at about 3am today and is thought to have been caused by a faulty heater.

Fire crews from across Barnsley were called to the scene and at its height 35 firefighters were battleing the blaze.

Laithes Lane was closed for several hours.
