A VET who had to put down a pony after it suffered severe brain damage believes it may have been attacked by thugs.

Ben Curnow from Green's veterinary surgery in Sheffield was called at around 11.30pm on Friday to help the black and white cob mare Molly. The six-year-old pony was in a field next to Birdwell roundabout with her foal Paddy, aged three.

Molly's owner Andy Ashworth, 52,  has offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to their conviction.

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident number 1107 of November 14.
