A BARNSLEY travel agent is seeing a rise in trade and taking on new staff despite the rise of internet booking.
Wordsworth Travel, on New Street, took on more staff last month and has reported a 25 per cent rise in turnover in the last five years.
Managing director of the town centre's only independent high street agent, Joy Jackson, said the firm decided 'years ago' not to try and compete with the internet, but instead to offer a friendly, face-to-face and much-more personalised service with their advisors who have had extra training and new specialisms, including Australia and New Zealand tours, ocean and river cruising and weddings abroad.
