WORK to reduce the risk of flooding and increase the wildlife value at Carlton Marsh is underway.
Barnsley Council’s parks services are working with the Friends of Carlton Marsh, Dearne Valley Green Heart, Cudworth Environment Group and the Environment Agency to reduce the risk of flooding and to create new wetland areas which will prove attractive to resident and migratory birds.
The works, costing almost £65,000 have been funded by section 106 monies and the Dearne Valley Green Heart partnership.
