A SUPERHERO campaign is being launched in Barnsley to encourage dental hygiene among young children.
Barnsley Council is using a child-friendly superhero to champion the importance of brushing teeth twice a day for two minutes. Young children will be able to use a colourful brushing chart to track their dental hygiene for 30 days.
Barnsley has significantly higher rates of dental decay amongst five-year-olds than the average for England, and Yorkshire and the Humber, with 40 per cent having decayed, missing or filled teeth.
Children who get in the habit young are far more likely to grow to have healthy teeth and gums, a report says.
