DAILY traffic chaos at another Wombwell school is holding up busses, and last week a child was nearly hit by a car, say parents.
Last weekthe Chronicle reported problems at Park Street School, but Highview Primary Learning Centre is also having teething troubles. Cars double park on Newsome Avenue around the new school, and some park very close to the entrance.
Parent Bev Eaden said: “There were traffic problems when it was just a junior school, now the new school with infants too is twice the size.
“I saw a girl come out between two parked cars to cross the road and she very nearly got hit. She was missed by about an inch.
“It’s not the first time and I don’t want to be the person who sees a child get hit.”
The school and many of the parents seem to be in agreement that something needs to be done.
Headteacher Geraldine Wilson said: “At busy times parents and others have been parking too close to the school entrance and I have some serious concerns about the safety of children leaving school.
