THOUSANDS of children in Barnsley are being hit hard by a decision not to increase child benefits, new research claims.
The claim was made in a report by the End Child Poverty coalition, made up of more than 150 children's charities, welfare, faith and social justice groups.
It says children in Barnsley are in families that are having to cut back on food and heating their homes as a result of child benefit and child tax credit not being raised in line with the cost of living over the past three years.
