THE FUTURE of the Hoyland Kwik Save store could finally be secured after posters declared it ‘Under New Management.’

Staff and customers were worried over the fate of the store in recent months after deliveries were cancelled and shelves left empty.

But a poster displayed in the store window stated that normal service would be resumed shortly.

It read: “Over the next few weeks your Kwik Save store will be getting back to normal bringing you all your favourite brands and unbeatable offers. We look forward to welcoming back all our customers.”

But according to shoppers the damage may already have been done.

Edith Greaves, 87, of Hoyland said that these promises had been made before. She said: “Every time they say they’re going to stock the shelves again they don’t. I was in there a fortnight ago and they said it then but they haven't. I've had to shop elsewhere.”

Karen Wright, 32, of Allott Crescent, Jump used to take her mother shopping there regularly.

She said: “It used to be a lovely shop but they are going lose all of their regular customers. I used to go in there every week but don’t anymore.

If they get some stock in then I’ll consider going back but there’s nothing in there at the moment. Its rubbish.”

Kwik Save was bought out in 1998 by Somerfield, which then sold the loss-making brand to an investment group called Back to the Future in February last year, along with a number of the stores.

Some of the Kwik Save shops were retained and converted to the Somerfield banner, while some were sold to other retail chains.

A Kwik Save spokesman said they were unable to comment on individual stores at present.
