A BANK account has been set up to receive donations to help refugees and asylum seekers in Barnsley.
Donations to the Barnsley Borough City of Sanctuary have been arranged with South Yorkshire Credit Union.
It was agreed at the last open meeting that any monies would be used to directly help refugees and asylum seekers and in the main this would mean passing the money to the Red Cross in Barnsley.
The group is also looking to set up a 'conversation cafe' where people can get refreshments, play table games and enable newcomers to use English in a relaxed setting.
It is looking for a venue close to the town centre such as a church hall or room in a WMC for a couple of hours, preferably on a Tuesday.
