THE first major phase of demolition work as part of the £50m Better Barnsley project is almost complete.
The iconic Central Offices building has almost disappeared from the town centre.
The next key milestone in the ambitious regeneration project will be the appointment of a main contractor, who is expected to be announced early next month.
The main contractor will manage the works on site including the construction of the new library and the refurbishment of the metropolitan centre.
