THE ARCHBISHOP of York will make his first visit to Barnsley as part of the All the Saints celebration day at Cannon Hall.

People from the Wakefield diocese, York, Ripon and Leeds are expected be there on Sunday, June 10 to welcome Dr John Sentamu.

The day starts at Wakefield Cathedral at 11am with a service of the Blessing of Creation led by Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili of the Georgian Baptist church.

The event then moves to Cannon Hall in the afternoon where the Archbishop will preach at a special open air service followed by the service at 3pm where he will preach and preside.

Visitors are encouraged to bring along a picnic for the day and entertainment includes a huge bouncy castle in the shape of Noah's Ark, a brass band, and steel drum and balloon sculpting workshops.
