A ZEBRA crossing and stop sign will not be installed on a busy Staincross Road, despite several serious accidents and a 289-signature petition.

Barnsley Council received the petition from John Race, who claims someone could be injured or even killed on the junctions of Staincross Common with Shaw Lane and Greenside and the junction of Paddock Road and Shaw Lane.

But the council said the sites did not meet the required criteria.
