BARNSLEY’S second biggest private hire firm A1 Ace Taxis is merging with City Taxis of Sheffield, it was confirmed this week.
All staff at the Barnsley firm will keep their jobs - including owners Michael and Anne Cozens - and it will continue to operate from its base on the Maple Estate, off Stocks Lane.
The Sheffield firm grew to about 1,400 cars when it merged with Mercury Taxis a year ago, and has now bought out 55-car A1 Ace under its new ‘umbrella’ brand Northern Taxis.
