A DARFIELD pub landlord is convinced his car windscreen was smashed by angry drinkers who he stopped from smoking.
Ronnie Wild, landlord at The Sportsman, is concerned that the smoking ban which came into force on Sunday, is going to cause more trouble yet.
He said: “On Sunday people started asking for ash trays and we wouldn’t give them out.
“We got loads of hassle, then we’ve woken up on Monday to a smashed windscreen. We’ve had no trouble until this so I know it’s because of the smoking. And this is from the first day.”
On Sunday it became illegal to smoke in all enclosed public spaces and work places.
Ronnie estimates 80 percent of his regulars are smokers and he cannot see how he can enforce the ban.
