THE generosity and thoughts of a kind-hearted community which raised £1,500 have kept an allotment holder going after his 90 pigeons were killed in an arson attack.
John Holmes, 74, was left in tears after his beloved birds died in the attack which saw his pigeon lofts burned to the ground.
Now, eight months later, he is back up and running, has 30 birds and is looking forward to the racing season next year.
John, of Birk Avenue, Kendray, said: “It’s just unbelievable, you wouldn’t think people would even care.”
