EVEREST hero Les Binns raised £700 for The Soldiers’ Charity ABF when he ran a 50-mile ‘ultra marathon’ while carrying 10kg on his back.

Les, who made headlines around the world when he saved the life of a stranger near the top of the world’s highest mountain, completed the mammoth challenge made up of consecutive 15-mile loops around Ladybower reservoir in 12 hours 39 minutes - beating his target time of 13 hours by 21 minutes.

“I was exhausted, but elated,” said Les, 42, of Manvers.
