AN AFRICAN religious group has stopped its early morning prayers at The Fleets because of advice from a solicitor.

For a period of three weeks, the white-robed Friday's Apostles could be seen and heard every day between 5am and 6am — but not any more.

The group, which comprises worshippers from all over Africa, have stopped because their leader, Isaiah, has been advised that the daily meeting on the former football pitch may affect his asylum application.

People near The Fleets have complained the sound of chanting, singing and praying was keeping them awake in the morning.

Isaiah, real name Leonard Radzokota, said he did not want to cause any problems.

He said: “I don’t know the rules exactly to this country, so I have to listen only to the advice of my solicitor.

“We are foreigners in this country. We don’t know how people take things.”

He added: “God doesn’t want us to break any rules, and if we disturb people, then God doesn’t like that as well.”
