PEOPLE who accept a cheap lift home by an unlicensed taxi could be putting themselves in harm’s way, a senior councillor has warned.

Coun Roy Miller said it is a major problem in Barnsley and he is ‘extremely concerned’ about the number of particularly young people who are making use of smart phone technology to organise their transport.

“There are lots of people touting taxi services on social media, which is illegal,” he said.
