MEET the 73-year-old whose moves on the BBC show Our Dancing Town put Barnsley on the map and won her a place in everyone’s hearts.
Joan Dawson initially thought she would have a tiny part in the mass-choreographed dance routine through the town centre that was watched by millions of television viewers last week.
Now she has a legion of fans.
Joan, of Broadway, Barnsley, said it took her four hours last Saturday to do a ‘bit of shopping’ in the town centre because so many people wanted to hug her and talk about the programme.
“It’s been just amazing, brilliant and wonderful and who would have ever thought it at my time of life,” she said.
