CRIMINALS are being driven out of Dodworth by its community spirit, the police believe.
The village has some of the lowest levels of crime in Barnsley, when compared to similar sized areas such as Hoyland, Wombwell and Royston, according to UKcrimestats.com.
In some areas, the number of crimes are more than 100 month after month. But the highest Dodworth has seen was 70 crimes reported in June last year - and that appears to be a one-off. July 2015 saw the lowest number of just 26.
Sgt Ian Bailey, the neighbourhood policing team sergeant for Kendray which covers Dodworth, said good policing, good crime prevention advice and people applying that advice may have contributed.
