THE Digital Media Centre was intended to be iconic - and it is, both inside and out.

Contractors are on the verge of handing the flagship town centre building over to the council and fledgling businesses are expected to move in within the next few months.

It will act as an ‘incubator’ for small firms in the digital and media industry but the environment which has been created for them to work in is anything but humble.

Consultant Brian Timperley has been acting on behalf of the council to make sure construction went as planned.

He said: “I'm absolutely delighted, this is going down as a great success on my CV.”

The council’s director for development David Kennedy is also thrilled with the results.

He said: “We've got nine businesses taking up space and a lot of other enquiries from interested people, it's already beginning to have the effect we wanted it to have."
