A BARNSLEY mum has started a fundraising campaign to keep Wentworth Castle Gardens open to the public.
Emma Robinson launched the Crowdfunding page online after learning of the demise of the Stainborough tourist attraction, which will close in spring due to a lack of funds. The trust that manages the gardens and parkland is winding down.
The 36-year-old, of Longcar Lane, Barnsley, is a regular visitor with her three children and said it will be a dreadful loss to Barnsley if it goes. She believes that with some clever thinking and careful planning the gardens could be a ‘gold mine for a canny investor’.
