FLOORS above a town centre betting shop will be turned into studio apartments, if plans are given the go ahead by the council.

An application has been submitted to refurbish and convert the first and second floor levels into seven self-contained flats in what was the Yorkshire Building Society on the corner of Market Hill and Eldon Street.

The building was formerly home to the Yorkshire Bank and for many years it was one of two branches facing each other on the same corner - the other still remains.
