A FORMER pub will be demolished to make way for a seven-storey block of apartments in the town centre.

The last pint was pulled at the Fitzwilliam Inn on Sackville Street in 2005 and now plans are being drawn up to redevelop the site.

An outline planning application has been submitted to the council by London based firm Hind Property Co Limited.

There will be 38 flats with six earmarked for affordable housing. Currently there are no allocated parking spaces but there will be 14 car spaces, three disabled spaces and 20 cycle and motor cycle spaces incorporated within the development.
