PLANS to build 14 new homes in Brierley have been approved - despite considerable objections to the scheme.
Councillors on Barnsley Council’s planning board met on Tuesday to discuss the plan on Park View, which is a quiet cul-de-sac.
The plan includes six four-bedroom and eight three-bedroom properties, and concerns are about a loss of greenspace, a negative impact on wildlife, more pressure on school places and ongoing parking issues .
Coun Dorothy Higginbottom said: “I won’t be able to support this application - there are about 14 cars parked down there today.
“I think there should be more parking spaces or at least the road be made wider. The sightline won’t be protected if someone comes along in a van and blocks it.”
