A HAIRDRESSER has achieved a lifelong ambition of owning his own Barnsley salon.

Flawless Hair and Beauty has been set up by Jason Law, who has been styling hair since 1983. He has taken over the former BB's Hair Design premises on Summer Lane, Barnsley.

The 50-year-old said owning his own salon is something he has always wanted to do but said having a young family meant it was easier for him not to be tied down to his own business.

Jason, of Upper High Royds, Mapplewell, said he couldn't have embarked on the new venture without the support of wife Marie, with whom he celebrated 25 years of wedded bliss on Tuesday. "It's something I have always wanted to do," said Jason.

"I started at Leslie Frances and did my training there and worked at a few places around Barnsley and was mobile for a lot of years. Having my own salon is something I have always thought about but when you work around a wife and kids, having a salon means you are there and can't go anywhere.

"The kids have now grown up, they are 24, 20 and 18 and all girls - so I am well and truly henpecked - and they don't need me anymore - apart from lifts from town."

Flawless employs two stylists, Kersha Egan and Rachelle Guthrie, and an apprentice Rebecca Gibbons. It also has a beautician, Ebonie Thompson.
