HOYLANDSWAINE Brownies had big, pearly white smiles on their faces last weekend after taking part in a record breaking ‘brushathon’.

Eleven girls from Hoylandswaine, along with over 300 other brownies from Barnsley, set a new Yorkshire record for the highest number of brownies and guiders simultaneously brushing their teeth for two minutes.

Brownie leader Rebecca Pritchard said: “It was a fun day and all the girls enjoyed it. We are only a small pack so they loved seeing so many other brownies.

“Everyone who took part received a free singing tooth brush. I think it’s a really good way to get the message across about the importance of keeping teeth clean.”

The day also included a dance master class by Theatre Train, a quiz and face painting.
