TWO dog owners believe their working terriers have been stolen to order by an organised gang.

Arthur Nixon had two Jack Russells taken from Mapplewell and days later a Patterdale terrier was removed from Nicola Wilkinson's home in Great Houghton.

All were kept and trained as working dogs and were kept in outside kennels. Arthur, of Darton Lane, Mapplewell, says the thieves had to jump over a 7ft fence and throw his dogs over to get them.

They were disturbed by a neighbour but still got away with two of his prized pets - Arnie a two-year-old with one tan ear and Jack with a black patch on her eye.

The theft happened at about 1pm on Wednesday September 26.

Arthur said: "“I have no doubt they came to clear me out of my dogs and it was only because they were disturbed as they made their way to the car with the first load that they made off with two.

“I am devastated, they are my pets and they're working dogs for pest control. Basically it's my hobby and I've been all over the country with them.

"They are pretty sought after because I have been breeding them for about 40 years from the same strain for working."
