Sue Gilroy picked up a 'brilliant' individual bronze medal at the European Para Table Tennis Championships in Slovenia this week.
The 44-year-old schoolteacher from Dodworth, who suffers from Ehler Danlos Syndrome which causes her joints to dislocate hundreds of times per day, competed in the class four to five category.
She came through her first three games to secure a semi-final with Serbian Borislava Peric-Rankovic, the Paralympic champion and world number one.Gilroy lost 3-0 and had to settle for a bronze medal.
She said: "I'm really disappointed with how I played against Peric. Normally I give her a really good game and unfortunately I didn't do that.
"I've been out for the last three months after having surgery on my arm and I've only been back playing for six weeks so I didn't expect to get a medal, and it is brilliant to get a bronze."
Sue then teamed up with teenager Megan Shackleton in the team event. They were eliminated from the group stage after losing their first three games.
