POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a collision in which a 49-year-old man died.
At around 11.50am on Sunday a cyclist was travelling downhill along Carr Lane, away from the A629 towards Broad Oak Lane, near Scout Dike reservoir on the outskirts of Penistone, when the rider of the bike appears to have mounted a grass verge before losing control and falling in to the road.
The cyclist was subsequently involved in a collision with a black Land Rover Freelander, travelling in the opposite direction.
The collision happened close to the entrance of Carr Lane Farm.
The cyclist, a 49-year-old man from Barnsley, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
