Some of the biggest names in snooker are in Barnsley this week for the English Open at the Metrodome.

There was a dramatic first day on Monday in which world number four Judd Trump made two century breaks to lead 2-1 only for opponent Robbie Williams, ranked 63 in the world, to go 3-2 up in the best of seven match before Trump came back to win 4-3.

Four-time world champion John Higgins also battled back from 3-2 down to win 4-3 against Elliot Slessor while Jimmy White was beaten 4-0 by Mark Allen. There were comfortable wins for Shaun Murphy, Stuart Bingham, Ali Carter and Matthew Stevens.

The action continues today with the likes of Mark Selby, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson playing their first games in the competition.
