PINT-SIZED gangsters and molls will take to the stage at the Academy Theatre next week.
A cast of more than 60 children aged between seven and 11 from the Take 2 Theatre School will appear in Bugsy Malone at the theatre on Sheffield Road in Birdwell.
The junior crime caper musical, which was made into a film in 1976, sees the young actors playing gangsters - and real weapons have been replaced with ‘splurge’ guns firing cream instead of bullets.
The story charts the rise of Bugsy Malone, played by Harry Newcombe, and the power struggle between mob bosses Fat Sam, played by Thomas White, and Dandy Dan, played by Peter Bottomley.
Performances are at 7.15 from Monday June 19 to Saturday June 24, when there will be a matinee at 2.15pm.
