WOMBWELL schoolgirl Rebecca Hewitt is refusing to take 'no' for an answer and is stepping up her road safety campaign to help her chums at her former school.

Rebecca, 11, of Newsome Avenue, first contacted the council in the summer to highlight the problems outside High View Primary School. Sometimes, there are so many parked cars that children have difficulty crossing the road.

She suggested that a plot of land could be turned into a car park to relieve the congestion but Tom Storey, an education department official, has sent her a letter saying this is not possible.

As a result, Rebecca, now a pupil at Wombwell High School, has sent another letter to all three Wombwell councillors saying that something must be done or someone could be injured at home time.

Although she no longer attends High View, she lives nearby and sees the chaos outside the school and feels a responsibility to try to help her friends.
