THE town centre's German-style Christmas market returns this weekend - with a comedian Toby Foster conducting the opening ceremony.
Several traders from Barnsley's twin-town Schwabisch Gmund will have stalls on the Christkindlmarkt which will be on Cheapside until Sunday.
Today there will be a firework display at 6pm and Phoenix Nights star, Toby, will be doing the countdown.
Barnsley Council's development spokesman, Coun Bill Newman, said the market attracts 150,000 shoppers to the town. A free park and ride, picking up at the Peel Centre car park and dropping off in town, will run on Friday night and every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday until Christmas.
